Hours Requirements

5-hour weekly minimum

Beginning Sunday, January 26th, 2020

Ending Saturday, May 9th, 2020
Hour Multipliers

2 credit/hour consenting if approaching patients when you’re not on call

1.5 credit/hour if on call at DCMC
Exemptions
-
Maximum 3 exemptions per semester

Submit exemption requests through the weekly survey BEFORE the exemption period. For example, an exemption for the week of January 27th -Feb 1st, would need to be submitted on the survey due on January 26th.
Strikes
-
Falling under the 5 hours/week minimum requirement (or any other violation of your lab contract) results in one stroke.

3 strikes result in automatic removal from the lab

What is defined as a “week” for hours? → Sunday through Saturday.

Will I be notified if my exemption gets approved? → We’ll let you know if you’ve already reached your max number of exemptions. Otherwise please assume your exemption is approved.

Can I use an exemption for last week if I didn’t meet my 5-hour minimum? → No.

If I request an exemption and then end up actually doing hours, can they count toward this upcoming week’s hours? → Yes.

Do I need to request an exemption for holidays/breaks?

You do not need to request exemptions for the following weeks:

Spring Break: March 15-21

Finals: May 10-23

Please keep in mind that even though you don’t need to be doing hours during this period, we’d love for you to do hours because...patients!
